About Mark

The following are projects Mark Granlund is currently managing. As is his passion, these projects have to do with our environment and the arts. They vary in scale. Some projects Mark is personally presenting to and interacting with hundreds of people. Other projects he coordinates with a handful of people and What's Beautiful In Your Life? is Mark sitting alone at a computer and sharing things with the world.

NEW! Developing Jack the Dog
I am working with puppeteer Margo MacCreary to develop her character (and I do mean character) Jack the dog. We are working on character development and piecing together a script for a play. More will be shared as this project develops, including announcements to see rehearsals and shows.

2010 Flint Hills International Children's Festival Horticulture Display

Mark Granlund and Angela Koebler have been asked to create a horticulture display for the 2010 Flint Hills International Children's Festival which is presented by the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. Last year's display by Mark and Angie was highly successful. I will be blogging about the project as it develops.

Blooming Saint Paul

Blooming Saint Paul is a comprehensive initiative to revitalize Saint Paul's downtown and neighborhoods through lush and colorful landscape elements. It focuses on creating an attractive, safe, and healthy city where people choose to live, work and play. Mark oversees work crews and volunteer efforts, as well as coordinating with community groups and city departments to implement this program. He also oversees the annual Golden Bloom Awards as part of this program.

Local Food Solutions

Mark is currently spearheading an intiative in Saint Paul to create better access for healthy and locally grown food. This project involves several city, county and community partners. We are gathering data, lining up city/county resources and, this winter, will engage the public in the process. Information will be added when it becomes available.

What's Beautiful In Your Life?

Mark keeps a visual journal of things he finds beautiful in his life on my "What's Beautiful In Your Life?" Facebook page. Others are also encouraged to make entries about what is beautiful in their lives. Entries include photos, text and/or video. Some things in life are so beautiful they have to be shared.

Environmental Education

Mark has been involved in environmental education for more than fifteen years. From establishing the education department at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory to creating a job training program for the "green" industry to writing about environmental education for parents and educators, teaching and learning about the environment in which we live is a passion of Mark's.
